Talkie AI alternatives: what Talkie lets you take, and where to go next

The Morse teamPublished Facts checked 6 min read

The best Talkie AI alternative is one that keeps your chats somewhere you control, because as of October 28, 2026, Talkie's own export file holds your email, username, gender, and age, and none of your conversations. Morse keeps character chats encrypted in your browser, and its Free plan puts no limit on character messages. PolyBuzz, Janitor AI, Nomi, Kindroid, and Chai are the other apps compared here.

We read Talkie's terms and privacy policy (both last updated October 21, 2025), its FAQ, community guidelines, export page, delete page, and both app store listings on October 28, 2026. We read each alternative's own pages the same day. Talkie deserves credit for its delete page, which says plainly that your conversation records are "permanently erased" once you deactivate.

Is Talkie AI the same as Talkie.ai?

No. Talkie AI, the companion app at talkie-ai.com, is run by SUBSUP PTE. LTD., a Singapore company, and its website footer says "Powered by MiniMax" (Talkie). Talkie.ai is a different company that sells an "AI Medical Receptionist" to clinics. Lists of "Talkie alternatives" sometimes mean Talkie.ai's business rivals, so check which Talkie a list means before you trust it.

Can you take your Talkie chats to another app?

Not with Talkie's own tools. Its Export Data page lists four things the file includes: email address, username, gender, and age. Your conversations aren't among them, and neither are the Talkies you've built.

Deleting your account goes further. Talkie's delete page warns that you "relinquish ownership" of every Talkie you created, and that each one will then show its creator as "Null." The page doesn't say those characters come down, only that they lose your name.

So before you leave, open each Talkie you made, copy its description and opening message into a document, and save the parts of any story you want to keep. Any app on this page can take that text as a new character's backstory.

Why is Talkie called Talkie Lab on the App Store?

Talkie Lab is the only Talkie app we found on Apple's US App Store on October 28, 2026, sold by SUBSUP PTE. LTD. Its listing calls Talkie Lab an "AI Playground" for exploring "models like MiniMax Text-01 and DeepSeek-V3," with audio, image, and video tools (App Store). Android users get a different listing, "Talkie: Creative AI Community" (Google Play). If you searched the App Store for Talkie, Talkie Lab is what's there, from the same seller and linking the same terms of service. Why the original app left the store in 2024, and how the two stores' age labels differ, is in is Talkie AI safe.

Why do people stop using Talkie?

Talkie's own pages give four reasons.

Strict content rules. Talkie's FAQ says pornographic and violent content "violate our terms of service, and will not be supported in the future." Its community guidelines, last updated January 24, 2025, also ban "content with suggestive or implicit sexual undertones" (Talkie).

Characters forget. The FAQ says an AI's memory "has a maximum capacity for conversations," so it "may 'forget' content that hasn't been brought up recently" (Talkie).

A conditional free plan. Talkie's terms say "Free Use" is "aimed at users who cannot afford any of our subscription-fee based programs," and that Talkie may "deny the free use to anyone at any time on our own discretion" (Talkie). Replika's terms, last updated March 30, 2026, carry the same two sentences word for word (Replika), so it reads as shared boilerplate.

US only. Talkie's privacy policy says its services are "primarily designed for use within the US market and are not intended for non-US consumers," and that your information may be stored and processed in the USA (Talkie).

How Morse keeps your companion chats in your hands

SUBSUP decides what Talkie's export includes, what happens to your characters when you go, and who keeps a free account, because your Talkie conversations sit on SUBSUP's servers. On Morse, Characters saves every conversation, every character you create, and your personas inside your own browser, encrypted, and our servers keep no messages (privacy policy). Morse trains no AI on your chats, sells none of your data, and runs no ads.

Your history is already on your device, so no export form decides what you get back, and the characters you build live beside your chats. Pro, at $19 a month or $17 billed yearly, adds unfiltered models that take on the dark fiction other apps refuse, memory across chats, character chats on any included model, and limited-edition characters. The Free plan lets you send as many character messages as you like and asks for no card. Morse is for adults only, and in a character chat, a check on your device shows crisis lines when a message reads like suicidal thinking.

Your browser holds the only copy, so clearing it deletes your chats for good, and Morse can't bring them back. Keep a copy of any story you'd miss.

Outside Characters, you pick a privacy mode for each Chat conversation:

  • Private, for a Talkie-style late-night talk you'd rather no host kept. It runs open-weight models like DeepSeek, Kimi, and GLM, and Morse has zero data retention agreements with its inference, search, and other providers, so they have agreed to keep nothing.
  • E2EE, for what you wouldn't tell a Talkie. Your browser verifies the enclave's hardware proof, then seals each message for that one enclave, relying on the enclave hardware and attestation working as designed. It comes with Pro.
  • Anonymous, for asking GPT, Claude, or Gemini about a Talkie story without the provider knowing it's you. The provider sees the message and may keep it for a limited time to check for abuse, under its own policy, so leave names and identifying details out.

What about PolyBuzz, Janitor AI, Nomi, Kindroid, and Chai?

PolyBuzz says it imports character cards and JSON files from Character.AI, TavernAI, and others (PolyBuzz); what its privacy policy shares, and with whom, is in is PolyBuzz safe.

Janitor AI promises "We will always keep a free option available for everyone" (Janitor AI), and our Janitor AI alternatives guide covers how it handles your chats.

Nomi requires a Google or Apple account to sign up (Nomi), and our Character AI alternatives guide covers what its policy keeps after you delete.

Kindroid puts voice calls, video calls, and longer memory behind a subscription priced at checkout (Kindroid).

Chai uses your conversations to fine-tune its models (Chai); is Chai AI safe has the details.

Common questions

Will Talkie delete my account if I stop using it?

It can. Talkie's terms reserve the right to terminate accounts that are inactive "for an extended period of time," without naming a period, and say Talkie has no responsibility for deleting or failing to store your content.

Does a person check the Talkie characters I create?

Yes. Talkie's FAQ says all AI settings are "subject to human moderation," usually within a day, and that a character can stay hidden if a manual or automated review flags it.

Which Talkie alternative has no ads?

Morse shows no ads on any plan, free included. Nomi's privacy policy says ad networks are "not employed currently," PolyBuzz lists an ad-free experience among its membership perks, and Chai shows ads to free users.
